Zambia Wildlife and Walking Safari - A 11 Day Safari from £4,000 per person sharing
Day 1
On arriving in Lusaka international Airport you will be met
by a representative who will help you check into the internal flight to Mfuwe. After you arrive into Mfuwe it is another 1 hour drive to the lodge. The drive takes you through local villages and their crop lands as well as thick African bush. Depending on your arrival you will have time for lunch and then in the afternoon or early evening you can go on your first game drive. The lodge is situated on the Luangwa River overlooking the South Luangwa National Park. This allows for easy access to the game rich areas of the park.
Overnight: Nkwali Camp – this intimate camp is situated on Robin Pope’s private land overlooking the Luangwa River and the South Luangwa National Park. There are 6 chalets with open ensuite bathrooms and views across the river (L/D)
Day 2
Breakfast is at dawn around the campfire b
efore you set off on your morning activity. You can choose from a game walk or safari drive in the South Luangwa National Park. This area of the National Park is rich in animal life and includes large family herds of elephants and the endemic Thornicroft giraffe. Tea, coffee and cake will be served at a scenic spot along the Luangwa River or close to one of the many lagoons in the area. You have the chance to relax around the pool in the afternoon before heading out on an afternoon/night drive giving you the chance to observe the nocturnal animals.

Day 3
After breakfast around the campfire you will be driven the 90km into the South Luangwa National Park. The drive to the Mupamadzi River takes you along bush roads to the remote camp. This is what a Zambian Walking Safaris is all about – getting away from the easily accessible areas. The camp is already set up when you arrive around lunch time. In the afternoon you have the chance to go on a short walk around camp.
Overnight: Mobile Walking Safari Camp in the South Luangwa National Park – each walk-in tent has comfortable beds and a small
table. There are camp chairs and wash basin outside the tent. The bush shower is under a large tree and the long drop toilet has a wooden throne. Meals are of a high standard and are served under the African sky (B/L/D)
Day 4
Another early start and breakfast before heading off into the bush on your walking safari. Everyday you will walk no more than 10 kilometres along the Mupamadazi River which is major tributary of the Luangwa River. From ant tracks in the sand to lion tracking along dry river beds, you will learn about all facets of the African bush. Your camp will be setup by the time you reach camp for lunch. After a siesta you can go for a walk around the camp.

Day 5
Today you will explore the area around the camp. This will give you a good idea of what was creeping around the camp at night!!!! The guides in the South Luangwa National Park are some of the best walking safaris guides in Africa and will be able to see a full story of events by simply looking at the tracks in the sand. You will return to the same camp for the night.

Day 6
Just after dawn you head off to your next camp along the Mupamadazi River. This is your final bush camp during the walking safari.

Day 7
Enjoy walking around the camp in the morning and again in the afternoon. Walking safaris are more about the smaller things about the bush. The insects, tracks in the sand, animal rubbing post, the smell of the animals, it really does get all your senses going.

Day 8
You will be picked up from the camp after an early breakfast. The drive to pontoon across the Luangwa River to the Tena Tena
camp takes about 4 – 5 hours. You can relax and reflect on your Zambia Walking experience once in camp. Elephant and other animals often visit the water hole and river opposite the camp, so you don’t have to move far. You do have the option to go for an afternoon and evening game drive.
Overnight: Tena Tena Camp – the 5 custom made safari tents are pitched under a grove of mahogany trees along a sweeping bend in the Luangwa River, within the South Luangwa National Park. All tents have a dressing room as well as open ensuite bathrooms. Meals are often eaten under the shade of the mahogany trees (B/L/D)
Day 9
Today is spent enjoying the spectacular Buca Buca lagoon where you can sit and watch the animals coming down to drink, and because the area is so remote you will have these scenes to yourself. Alternatively you can opt for a full day excursion around the game rich area of Nsefu visiting the salt pans.

Day 10
This is your last full day in this Zambian wilderness
and so morning activities start at first light. You also have the option to visit one of the local villages where you will get to experience what life is like in a Zambian village (if you want to visit the village please mention this at time of booking).

Day 11
You will be transferred the 1 ½ hours to Mfuwe International Airport to get your internal flight back to Lusaka and then onwards to your next destination.
