Nsolo Bushcamp, South Luangwa Valley

Nsolo Bushcamp

Part of the chain of Norman Carr Bush Camps used for walking safaris, Nsolo is situated on a bend on the Luwi Sand River in South Luangwa Valley and is only 3 hours walk from Luwi Bushcamp. Four individually designed chalets on platforms each having their own viewing platform offer the guest luxury in the bush. Each of the ensuite bathrooms are roofless offering you the opportunity to watch the wildlife from your shower! Usually you don’t have to go far to have a great experience at Nsolo as there is a waterhole in front of the lodge which attracts a host of wildlife; because of its remoteness and the lack of roads the activities are centred around walking although night drives are on offer as well.

  • 4 thatched chalets
  • Children over 12 allowed, restrictions apply
  • No swimming pool
  • Great for walking safaris

Style: A rustic and charming Bushcamp, incorporating the surrounding environment.

Setting: The camp is a 3 hour game drive from Mfuwe Airport on a wide bend in the Luwi River; various animals come here to drink through out the day.

Accommodation & Facilities: The chalets are all raised on timber platforms, with an open air en-suite bathroom and a private wooden deck extending out through double doors. Each chalet is designed to incorporate its surroundings and local trees, hence they are all slightly unique, yet all designed using natural, local materials.

The open sided main area is thatched and raised on a beautiful dark wooden deck. Similar to the chalets, it uses the sausage trees and Natal Mahogany trees as part of its structure as well as making the most of their shade. There is a nice comfortable lounge with a small library, a bar and a dining area.

Dining: Meals here are particularly delicious. Dinner is generally three courses and can be served in the dining tent or even by lantern under the stars on the wide sandbank close by – this is also a perfect spot for sundowners and snacks.

Activities: The main activity here is walking safaris; there are many varied environments and habitats to explore and a large range of local wildlife. Short night drives are also possible.

Child Policy: Children over 12 are allowed to stay at Nsolo Bushcamp; however children between 12 and 16 may only join walking safaris at the manager’s discretion.
