Tanzania Family Safari Holidays
Tailormade Family Safari Holidays to the Renowned Savannah Plains of Tanzania...
Imagine dragging the kids away from the TV sets and computer screens, for a holiday experience never to be forgotten! Where in the evenings you can huddle around a campfire and share the stories of the day, whether it be a lion
stalking a zebra during the great migration, or the fun of learning a little Swahili with the locals. Tanzania is a fantastic family destination, and as with safaris in general, a wonderful way to re-awaken everyone’s sense of adventure and enjoy yourselves together without modern day distractions. There are lots of opportunities for private safaris and game drives in Tanzania, making it idea for that family adventure!
Despite being about 10 hours from the UK, there is only a 2 hour difference between time zones, so jet lag won’t be a problem and you can get straight to into enjoying your holiday! So long as you pick the right parks and camps (and we can help you there), there is plenty to see and do, enough to keep even the busiest of minds occupied. Four wheel drive safaris are the main attraction and learning about and spotting the big five on the East African plains is an unbeatable experience. Watching a child’s face light up with adrenaline and excitement on their first lion sighting, or even just the anticipation of a sighting can be enough.
Using the best guides available, they will be able to spark the interest of adults and children alike, ready to point out the wildlife and describe the local histories and traditions. You can also visit local villages and give your children the chance to meet local Maasai children of similar ages to perhaps learn a little of their language and share stories of home. This is a wonderful way of getting children excited and involved in a hugely contrasting culture...
A vast array of accommodation is available throughout Tanzania that is great for families and we are always aware when creating family safaris that where you stay has a big impact on your overall experience. If you are looking for something wild and on the adventurous side, there are a few private wilderness camps that provide the perfect mixture of comfort and excitement. In this way you can tailor your experience completely and uniquely to yourselves and maximise the enjoyment of your family holiday. If you would prefer to stay at lodges, there is a great range with pools to keep children occupied between game drives; Sayari Camp welcomes children of all ages and is great for watching the Great Migration, Plantation Lodge is ideally situated to explore Northern Tanzania with a wonderful pool and gardens to enjoy. Some lodges, such as Sasakwa Lodge are available for families if booked on an exclusive basis, this is great to bear in mind when you are planning for a big group of guests or when a few families are travelling together, especially as each room has its own plunge pool!
Safaris to Tanzania can easily be combined with some relaxing beach time in Zanzibar, where activities and water sports are abundant; you can even do a bit of dolphin spotting!
