Tanzania is East Africa's principle wildlife holiday destination and home to some of the most breathtaking wildlife viewing and tracking in Africa, if not the world, offering a diverse range of experiences from well trodden wildlife and migration safaris in the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater to the more adventurous and less busy national parks of southern and western Tanzania such as Ruaha and the Selous. There is no bad time to visit Tanzania as each season is brimming with activity!
Climate
There is no bad time to go to Tanzania as each season has its advantages, however if possible it is worth trying to avoid the peak tourist season - during the northern hemisphere Winter. June and July are particularly busy but this is also the best time for viewing the wildebeest migration on the Serengeti.
The wetter season between November and April is a good time to see the Serengeti, when it is at its greenest and also offers the best birdwatching. The wettest months are March and April, when parts of the country may experience storms daily.
The dry season, particularly March and September, is great for trekking generally; this includes Mount Kilimanjaro and Meru. Temperatures on the coast tend to be more bearable at this time of year and there will be fewer mosquitos.
Wildlife
Game viewing: The best time for viewing the wildebeest migration on a Serengeti safari is June and July, although things can get busy over this period.
Chimpanzee Tracking: can be done all year round however some of our favourite times are during the months of August, September and October when the chimpanzees are on the lower slopes of the Mahale Mountains making for easier trekking!
Bird watching: The rainy season between November and April offers the best birdwatching, with resident species supplemented by a number of Palaearctic and intra-African migrants.

Costs
Flight costs tend to increase over Christmas and during the northern hemisphere summer when demand is greater. Park fees remain the same year round.
