Rhino Post Safari Lodge, Kruger National Park

Rhino Post Safari Lodge

Rhino Post Safari Lodge is a 16 bed lodge situated on a private concession inside the Kruger National Park. The lodge is the base for the Rhino Post walking safaris, although game drives in open 4x4s are also available to search for the “Big Five”. Each of the stone, wood, thatch and canvas suites has a bedroom, lounge with views of the river, an ensuite bathroom with outdoor shower and a private deck. It is possible to enjoy the exciting experience of sleeping out in the African bush, at one of their purpose built sleeping platforms. This is an exciting experience as you can hear all the sounds of the bush around you including lion, hyena and hippos that tend to be quite vocal at night.

Accommodation & Facilities: As no permanent structures are allowed in the park, Rhino Post Safari Lodge was sensitively built using natural materials, such as stone and wood, with minimal impact on the environment. The 8 suites sleep up to 16 people and are all raised on stilts so the views from the bedroom, bathroom and private viewing deck are all equally stunning. Bathrooms are en-suite with large free standing baths, twin basins, toilet and an outdoor shower.

The swimming pool and comfortable lounge area, complete with fireplace, over look a very popular waterhole and the bar has an extensive wine list.

Dining: Meals are exquisite and generally served in a dining area, shaded beneath Tamboti trees.

Activities: Rhino Post Safari Lodge concentrates mainly on game drives, vehicles are open and the guiding here is very professional. There is also some great birding in the area. The lodge is also a great place to begin your Rhino walking safari, with sleep outs on offer. This is where guests sleep on elevated wooden platforms in the Kruger National Park, guests are encouraged to be involved with making their own beds and hanging mosquito nets for a real camping experience, before sipping a sundowner watching the waterhole.

Child Policy: Children of all ages can stay at the lodge, however under 12’s are not allowed to participate in sleep outs or walking safaris. Children under 6 can only go on game drives where there is a spare vehicle available, or when a vehicle has been privately booked out for them in advance.

Responsible Tourism: The lodge has been built to have the smallest environmental impact possible, built on stilts to protect the ground, using natural materials as well as low energy lighting.
