The annual average rainfall in Namibia varies from 50mm along the coast to 700mm along the Caprivi Strip in the north of the country. To the naked eye, Namibia is a dry and desolate country with not much in the way of wildlife, but if you look hard enough and in the right places you will see a host of endemic animals that range from desert beetles that drink moisture from the dew that they trap on their legs to elephants that have adapted to living in the desert, to one of the largest populations of cheetahs on the African continent making safaris in Namibia unique.

Many safaris in Namibia are done by light aircraft, but with a good road system, Namibia is a fantastic self-drive destination. As with other African destinations however please bear in mind that on occasions transfers and service levels etc. may not be up to western standards and it is essential that the traveller is patient and enjoys this as part of the experience and adventure of visiting Africa.
