Fish River Canyon Vacations – A Namibia vacation is varied due to the many scenic locations on offer like the second largest canyon in the world which lies in the southern part of the country. Africat Foundation Vacations – The Africat Foundation is a non profit organisation and was set up to rescue and rehabilitate cheetah, leopard, lion and wild dog that have been captured or orphaned by local farmers. With the largest population of free roaming cheetah in Africa most of the cats end up on these farms where they are seen as vermin and are often shot. Africat works with the farmers to prevent them from shooting “problem” animals. They are provided with spring loaded cage traps to capture cheetah, leopard and wild dog, giving Africat the chance to relocate them to protected areas where they can hunt freely. A Namibia holiday that includes a visit to this establishment will contribute to the survival of Namibia’s big cats and is ideal for getting up close to these large predators!
