Style: A small and intimate boutique hotel right on the south coast of Kenya.
Setting: On Diani Beach, just 1 hour from Mombasa. The lodge is right on the beautiful sandy beach and has some beautiful gardens for guests to explore.
Accommodation & Facilities: Rooms are tastefully decorated using a mixture of African artefacts, European art, bold colours and Swahili style furnishings. Each room comes with either twin or king sized beds, draped in mosquito netting. Rooms are all en-suite and have a ceiling fan as well as air conditioning.
At the front of the building is a large open veranda, proving a grand entrance that opens straight up onto the beach. There is also a café and snooker room with a half size snooker table, poker table and a variety of books and games, including darts.
The large pool is set in the beautiful gardens, which has little alcoves to hide away in and waterfalls to watch and while away the day…
Dining: Asha Cottages provides good food and wine. Cuisine is a mixture of Italian, continental, Indian and Swahili. A full continental breakfast is served in the morning, a fresh lunch with soups and sandwiches, and then a 3 course dinner. The menu is ever changing as the chef will organise it around the catch of the day.
Activities: The main feature is the beach, perfect for relaxing with the waves lapping at your feet. Asha Cottage does have a small boat available for snorkelling, and the swimming in the sea is fantastic. The lodge is primarily for relaxing so they do not run any water sports, although you can book these through the busier Diani Beach Resort for a small fee.
Child Policy: Children welcome.
Responsible Tourism: Asha Cottage donates funds and supplies to local organisations that they know personally, so they can see exactly where the money is going. They also follow a lot of green practises.
