Amboseli Porini Camp

Amboseli Porini Camp is located within the exclusive Selenkay Conservancy, in the Amboseli eco-system. With striking views of Mount Kilimanjaro, this is an intimate camp, designed along the lines of a traditional tented safari camp - but offers many more luxuries than were available to the pioneering safari goers of earlier years! The camp has nine spacious guest tents, sited amongst shady, Acacia Tortilis trees.

Whilst in the conservancy, guests can spot all of the better-known big game such as elephant, lion, cheetah, giraffe and zebra, as well as several less common species such as caracal, African wildcat, civet, gerenuk, lesser kudu and striped hyena.

  • 9 Spacious tents
  • No swimming pool
  • Children over 8 years are welcome
  • Great for responsible tourism

Style: small and intimate camp designed along the lines of a traditional tented safari camp, with added luxuries.

Setting: Within striking distance of Mount Kilimanjaro, Amboseli Porini Camp is located within the exclusive Selenkay Conservancy, in the Amboseli eco-system - an important wildlife dispersal area and rangeland for game moving out of Amboseli National park.

Accommodation & facilities: The camp has nine spacious guest tents, shaded by Acacia Tortilis trees.  Each solar-powered tent is comfortably furnished and includes an en-suite bathroom, with a shower, wash-basin and flush toilet.

Set up as a traditional hunting safari bush camp, Amboseli Porini Camp has no permanent structures, and evening meals are taken around the camp fire, listening to the sounds of the African night. The camp is staffed by members of the local Masai Community

Dining: A full day's game viewing includes a packed picnic lunch in the park, with evening sundowners enjoyed at a scenic viewpoint. Tasty evening meals are served around the campfire.

Activities: Day and night-time games drives operate in custom designed, open-sided 4x4 safari vehicles; sundowners with views of Mt Kilimanjaro are all part of the experience, and bird-watching excursions are also on offer.

Escorted wildlife and cultural walks with Masai guides are offered, teaching about the Masai tribes’ relationship with their natural surroundings. Guests are also taken to a local Masai village to experience traditional Masai village life.

Child Policy: Amboseli Porini Camp does not accept children under 8 years.

Responsible Tourism: The aim of Porini camps is to assist local communities in the sustainable use of the land and wildlife; communities receive economic benefits, such as income and employment opportunities, in return for conserving the wildlife and natural habitat.

Amboseli Porini Camp is closed between April and May
