India Holidays - Overview

Tigers, Temples and Palaces...

Specialists in Indian holidays and safaris, tiger tracking vacations and holidays, World Big Cat Safaris provides first hand experience and expertise in tailoring your ultimate Indian wildlife holiday. Whether it be to track the famous Bengal Tigers of Central India, see the last remaining population of Asiatic Lions in Sasan Gir National Park, visit the one horned rhino of Kaziranga or the wild elephants of Corbett and Kerala, World Big Cat Safaris will handcraft a safari or holiday to meet your specific requirements. Alternatively, why not combine the amazing wildlife of India with some of the temples and palaces that have historically made India such a popular holiday destination…

Most people when thinking of wildlife safaris automatically think of Africa…and correctly so; India however has been seriously underestimated. The sighting of a majestic Bengal Tiger stealthily making its way through the jungle makes this one of the ultimate global wildlife destinations, and, when combining it with the Asiatic Lion and also the snow leopard, one soon realises that India has more to offer than at first meets the eye!

In contrast to the continent of Africa, India suffers from huge pressure on its countryside, national parks and reserves as a result of its ever increasing population. With a current human population of approximately 1 billion (a sixth of the world population!) and a tiger population of maximum 1,200, India’s parks suffer from limited availability of land and therefore encroachment on the habitat of its wildlife. For this reason, clients should chose carefully as to how, when, and which parks to visit as this can make a huge difference as to what you are likely to see. It is also essential that your holiday is constructed in a conscientious manner that does not impose itself on the already critically endangered wildlife such as the Bengal Tiger and the Asiatic Lion.

Some great wildlife and cultural holidays do exist including tiger tracking safaris in Kanha, Bandhavgarh or Pench National Parks and Asiatic Lion safaris and vacations in Sasan Gir National Park; why not combine these with the temples and palaces of Rajasthan, the majestic Taj Mahal of Agra, or the laid back beaches of Goa or Kerala.

What to Expect: If you are a seasoned African traveller please do not expect a similar set up in India. India is a fantastic destination in its own right, offering globally renowned wildlife and cultural areas of interest. With a remarkably amicable and diverse tribal population wherever you go, you can be assured of being immersed in the Indian way of life. India is a huge country and one should not expect to cover it all during your holiday; for this reason it is best to speak to one of our travel consultants who will tailor a safari to fit in with your specific requirements. Travel throughout the country is time consuming although at all times we do try to minimise distances travelled and we will always encourage you to travel by train or plane whenever possible as road travel can be chaotic to say the least!
