The endangered Royal Bengal Tiger can be found in a few of the National Parks throughout India, such as Ranthambore and Kanha, and seeing one in the wild is a truly magnificent experience. On the red list as critically endangered, this spectacular creature exudes strength and an unbeatable prowess and it is great to see children inspired to help keep them alive on our planet. In Ranthambore, you could also see marsh crocodiles, deer and beautiful leopards as you bounce around the terrain in a 4x4 vehicle. Monkeys are always a firm favourite and there are plenty of these cheeky animals throughout India. There is also Keoladeo Bird Sanctuary to explore on a traditional rickshaw, with over 300 species, their bright colours lure in even the most sceptical of traveller.

Culturally, India is hard to beat. Magnificent buildings such as the Taj Mahal in Agra, the Palace of the Winds and hilltop Amber Fort in the pink city of Jaipur always live up to their reputation of elegant beauty and wonder. Take tours of Old Delhi, a city of contrasts, where you can navigate narrow cobbled streets and barter at bazaars. Alternatively, explore the red sandstone city of Fatehpur Sikri for its old forts, temples and mosques. There is also the opportunity for families to go and meet the locals and discover traditional villages where you can learn about their ways of life, something we always think is important for those travelling with children.

To end your spectacular family holiday, why not head to the beach? Kerala is a lovely area, renowned for its tranquil and breathtaking scenery of rivers and rice fields as well as spice plantations and relaxed palm fringed beaches. Absorb some rays on the beach, enjoy a boat excursion or take a tour of Fort Kochi where you will find the Indo Portuguese Museum, Sree Gopalakrishna Devaswon Temple and the Dutch Cemetery, amongst other attractions. Goa is also world famous for its beaches, and with 66 miles to choose from is it any wonder? Alongside the magnificent stretches of sand, shop at traditional markets and enjoy local cuisine, and the more mature teens may find the nightlife attractive…
