Botswana Family Safaris
Tailormade Family Safaris and Holidays to Explore the Unique Wildlife of Exclusive Botswana...
Botswana is home to some of the most luxurious and exclusive lodges in the whole of Africa and is therefore not usually thought of as a family destination. Despite this, there are some incredible family based activities that you just
can’t find anywhere else. Combine these with some wonderful family friendly lodges and some private camping and you are in for the adventure of a lifetime!
We would always recommend that families do a private mobile safari in Botswana, not only does this give you the freedom and flexibility to do what you want, it also means that you can completely forget all responsibilities, making it relaxing for everyone. You will be provided with your own vehicle and knowledgeable guide, each of which has been highly trained to deal with families, and also who loves to share their passion for this beautiful country. You will also have a ‘camp hand’ who will cook and ensure your tents are set up safely and securely. This is a wonderful back to nature experience where you can focus on your surroundings and each other, not the cleaning and cooking! Alternatively if this is not your style, there are plenty of family friendly lodges such as Linyanti Bush Camp, Little Kwara or Shinde which are intimate and luxurious tented camps which can be hired out exclusively for the use of families and groups.
When it comes to activities for young people, Botswana never fails to surprise. During a stay at San Camp you can visit the beautiful Makgadikgadi Salt Pans where you can quad bike during the day, before sleeping out under the stars on comfortable beds. Here you can visit the relatively habituated Meer Cats, which have been known to snuggle up to visitors in the cool mornings, and even use their heads as look out posts! In the Kalahari you can spend some time with the local Bushmen, learning how they hunt, how to track animals and get some hands on experience at making fire with sticks, wind dependent. The Okavango Delta is one of the best known wilderness areas in the world and never fails when it comes to spectacular wildlife such as big game, and you can never predict a child’s reactions to their first huge elephant or snarling lion, we can guarantee, however, that the expression on their face will be priceless. Activities such as game drives, boat cruises and makoro rides can be done as a family, although it is also possible to organise for children to do something separate if you want some alone time.
Transfers can be made from lodge to lodge via light aircraft, eliminating the need for long arduous drives with the obligatory ‘are we there yet?’ We understand that no matter how spectacular the surroundings, that long drives are not ideal with youngsters in tow and always bear that in mind when creating safaris especially for families.

Botswana is one of our favourite family destinations and with some very intimate camps and lodges, as well as private wilderness camping, you are guaranteed a very personal and fulfilling safari experience.
