Wild Dogs and Wildlife of Botswana

A Wild Dog and Wildlife Safari taking in some Unique Private Concessions with some Breathtaking Game Viewing - From £7,285 Per Person, Excluding International Flights

Day 1
On arrival into Maun International Airport you will be met and assisted to your short onward flight to Chitabe. This is one of the best areas in Botswana to see the highly endangered wild dog. On our last visit we came across a pack of 26Wild Dog dogs as they were out on their afternoon hunt.
Overnight: Chitaba Camp – A luxury tented camp overlooking the floodplains in the southern Okavango Delta. The main area has a lounge, bar, fire area, dining area and plunge pool all connected by boardwalks (B/L/D)

Days 2 and 3
Chitabe concession is very good for leopard, wild dog as well as a whole host of other wildlife including buffalo, elephant, wildebeest, impala and more. Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives when the wildlife is most active. As wild dogs move over huge areas, finding them can be tricky. However, with other vehicles in the area on the lookout too, if the wild dogs are located you will get to hear about it, which will hopefully lead to a sighting.
Overnight: Chitabe Camp (B/L/D)

Day 4
From Chitabe you will fly north to the private concession of Kwando. This is one of the best areas for wild dogs as they den fairly close to the camp and up until August when they are still at the den it is easier (although never guaranteed) to know where they are.
Overnight: Kwando Lagoon Camp – Eight en-suite luxury tents on platforms overlooking the Kwando Lagoon. The main area has a lounge, bar area and plunge pool (B/L/D)

Days 5 and 6
You have two full days in this private concession, one of our favourite in Botswana as the emphasis is on the wildlife viewing. Each vehicle has a driver/guide and tracker which means you can drive off road to track the animals you are looking for. This area is also renowned for its large herds of buffalo and elephant, especially during the dry winter months. Other activities include walking safaris (seasonal), boat excursions and night game drives.
Overnight: Kwando Lagoon Camp (B/L/D)

Day 7
Duma Tau lies just across the river from the Kwando Concession and is also home to a number of wild dog packs and so, from Kwando Lagoon you will fly a short hop across to this concession.
Overnight: Duma Tau - Situated overlooking the river and lagoon. There are nine en-suite tents connected by a boardwalk. The rooms are large and each has an indoor and outdoor shower as well as a private balcony overlooking the river. The main area consists of a lounge, dining areaHippo at Sunset, bar, library, curio shop, fire place and plunge pool (B/L/D)

Days 8 and 9
Duma Tau is one of the best areas in Botswana to see leopards in the wild. The area along the river provides the ideal habitat for these elusive cats and so sightings are usually good, although of course this is never guaranteed. During the dry season this area attracts large herds of breeding elephants and on our last visit we spent three days with a pack of wild dogs who had recently moved into the area.
Overnight: Duma Tau (B/L/D)

Day 10
From Duma Tau you fly to Kasane in time for your international flight back home. You can now relax and reminisce over the adventures of the last week or so. Alternatively, there are a variety of extensions available including the breathtaking Victoria Falls. Why not finish this fantastic trip with a few days of relaxation and exploration of the "Smoke that Thunders"? (B)
