Nxai Pan Camp
Located in a protected, environmentally sensitive area, the summer rains bring thousands of migratory animals into the Nxai Pan area, attracting many predators from lions and wild dogs to spotted and brown hyenas. This eco-camp has custom designed and solar powered rooms and a refreshing swimming pool.
- 8 suites
- Swimming pool
- Children over 6 years welcome
- Great for responsible tourism, photography and families
Style: A new eco-camp opened in 2009.
Setting: Overlooking a permanent waterhole at the edge of Nxai Pan, the camp is situated in the south western section of Nxai Pan National Park; the Nxai Pans were once part of the great lake that covered central Botswana. Today, the Pan is a fossilised lakebed, some 40 square kilometres in size. The landscape is largely grassland, dotted with clusters of umbrella acacia trees and mopane woodland in the north.
Accommodation & facilities: The eight thatched rooms consist of seven en-suite twin rooms and one family suite, sleeping four guests. Each solar powered unit includes a fan, outside shower and private viewing deck.
Connected to the rooms by raised walkways, the main area includes a dining room, lounge area and viewing deck. Other facilities at Nxai Pan include a refreshing swimming pool, well-stocked library and curio shop.
Activities: Day-time game drives operate open 4x4 vehicles. Historical tours, nature walks and star gazing are also offered.
Nxai Pan is in a national park and an ecological sensitive area – for this reason there is no off-road driving or night driving.
Child policy: Children over 12 years are treated as adults, 6 -12 year olds are welcome but private vehicles must be booked, and children under 6 are welcome if exclusive use of the camp is booked.
