Jao Camp 

Situated on a remote Island within a web of beautiful waterways, Jao Camp offers guests the opportunity to explore a huge diversity of habitats and try a wide range of activities. With both water and land-based safaris available, wildlife viewing can be conducted in 4x4 vehicles, on foot or in glass bottomed mokoros (canoes). Alongside game viewing, Jao Camp offers mokoro poling lessons, fishing excursions and even paper and candle making lessons.

Setting: In the heart of the Okavango Delta, Jao Camp is located on a large, remote island in a private concession, bordering the Moremi Game Reserve, and is set in a tranquil area of beautiful islands fringed with riverine forests.

Accommodation & facilities: Jao Camp has nine individually handcrafted tents. The canvas and thatched rooms are set beneath a canopy of shady trees and have twin-beds, fans, en-suite facilities and an outdoor shower for the more adventurous. Built on raised decks, each spacious tent has a private sala (terrace) for afternoon siestas. All rooms offer spectacular views of the surrounding floodplains.

In addition to tastefully furnished lounge and dining areas, there are two plunge pools and an outdoor boma for dining under the stars. Jao Camp also has a spa where a wide range of massage therapies are offered.

Dining: Food is of a high standard, with an excellent selection of wines.

Activities
: Day and night-time game drives operate in ten-seat 4x4 vehicles, and full-day drives and picnics on Hunda Island (45 minute boat ride) are offered.

Water game viewing is available in glass bottomed mokoros (dugout canoes). Fishing operates on a catch and release basis - basic rods and reels are supplied by the camp but fly fishing equipment must be supplied by guests.

Game walks and excursions to a local hide are on offer, and siesta activities can be arranged, including talks, candle making, paper making and mokoro poling lessons. Other private activities are available on request.

Child policy:
Children over 8 years old are welcome but parties with children under 12 years are required to book private activities.
